In the past decade, social media websites have engaged hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Most users log on for their most original purpose, keeping in touch with friends, although more recently the online social experience has been complemented with additional services. Nowadays in fact, companies use social networks to connect with customers, business people use them to network, and the general public uses them to access the latest occurrences worldwide.
Most recently, Twitter has undertaken the initiative to enhance political campaigns allowing politicians to be funded by followers on its Interface. All in just a few seconds.
The company also announced: "We have developed tools like country-specific notifications that remind people to register to vote, richer Tweets that make email collection for campaigns easier, and real-time audience tailoring so advertisers can better identify and target relevant conversations."
