The 2015 Nobel Prize for medicine was awarded to three scientists who have made major discoveries on parasitic diseases. Half of the award was credited to William Campbell from Ireland and Satoshi Omura from Japan for discovering a new drug that treats infections procured by roundworm parasites. The other half goes to Youyou Tu from China, for finding a new and exceptionally effective antimalarial therapy through traditional herbal medicine.
